Black Friday is done and dusted for this year. Here at wnDirect our team have been working extremely hard dealing with the high volume of parcels as a result of the Black Friday peak. And now, after all the anticipation, the figures are in…IMRG and SimilarWeb have estimated that UK shoppers spent a whopping £1.23bn online on Black Friday last Friday. This was a +12.2% increase on the £1.1bn spent on the same day in 2015. However, it was almost a quarter lower than the original forecast growth of +16%.

For the week as a whole (Monday 21st – Monday 28th November 2016), an estimated £6.45bn was spent on UK online retail sites (-4.8% below original forecast of £6.77bn) – as longer campaign durations, with new discounting deals promoted each day, served to spread the peak shopper spend over a longer period.

Now the chaos of chaos of Black Friday and the ker-chings of Cyber Monday have come to an end there is another shopping extravaganza just around the corner…Manic Monday!

Manic Monday, which is on 5th December 2016, has been growing in popularity in recent years. It’s on the first Monday of December and exactly one week after Cyber Monday. It is a massive day of sales as shoppers hunt for deals on the Christmas presents that they haven’t yet purchased. It’s expected to produce huge savings and be even busier than Cyber Monday.
