It's all been going on!

It has been an incredibly busy time in the fashion industry with specific activity going on in eCommerce. ASOS has awarded a three-year contract for the management of its distribution, which sees Norbert Dentressangle take over responsibility of ASOS' global 1.1 million square-foot e-fulfilment centre in Barnsley.

H&M has opened its ecommerce doors to the US which will please many fashion bloggers and fans of the brand keen to get their hands on the high-trend, good value products and despite their initial reluctance more luxury brands appear to be joining the eCommerce trend perhaps finally admitting that it is a boat they can't afford to miss!

The lines between the online and offline world continue to blur as deals such as the Argos eBay partnership are signed and the buzz around mobile applications and how they can be used in-store to enhance the shopper's experience continues. wnDirect went to the eCommerce Expo recently and the talk of the show was omni-channel retailing and how it is revolutionising consumer behaviour.

Global movement of brands also continues to be buoyant. We have heard a lot about Western brands looking to maximise the opportunities in China but equally a number of Chinese fashion and apparel brands are now aiming to build upon their domestic success and establish themselves in Western markets. Among them are companies like Bosideng, with recorded revenues of $1.3 billion in 2012 and over 10,000 retail outlets in China, and Eve Enterprise, the group behind four menswear collections now targeting the UK.

Commenting on the move in 'The Business of Fashion' AlexandreQuirici, a partner at IDG Capital Partners, a China-focused investment firm, and a private investor in Qeelin, a Chinese luxury jewellry brand stocked at leading European stores like Harrods, Selfridges and Colette said: "Understanding the local markets, consumers and tastes outside of China is one of the biggest challenges" a sentiment wnDirect wholeheartedly supports and one which drives the development of new services.
