Sarah Heath joins wnDirect to further expand their technical innovation portfolio

May 03, 2016

Sarah Heath has joined wnDirect as Technical Sales Manager. Sarah joins wnDirect with significant experience in providing solutions to the retail sector. Having developed a number of innovations in collaboration with leading retailers Sarah is well placed to join the global business which is known for its out-of-the box thinking.

wnDirect advocates a cross-functional approach recognising the benefit of integrated teams and how this method can turn ideas into reality much faster. The staff at wnDirect have broad experience spanning logistics and retail. This mix means that the business really understands the implications of each new initiative and how its development and launch will ‘touch’ each of the business units as well as the potential pitfalls for those departments. Sitting within the IT Team Sarah will create a valuable bridge between IT and Innovation. This bird’s eye view has proved valuable to wnDirect in the past and has enabled them to expedite the development and launch of some really exciting innovations such as wnCollect.

Sarah’s initial focus will be on wnControlTower which is another game-changing innovation from wnDirect that was officially launched at the eDelivery / Internet Retailing Expo in Birmingham. wnControlTower is an operational alerting and reporting system which enables retailers to pro-actively manage the parcels within their network. Essentially it provides a dashboard overview which has the functionality to drill down to individual orders, enable business alerts and automatic notifications if parcels miss SLA.

Talking about the launch Sarah Heath said: “wnControlTower is essentially ‘air traffic control for parcels’ and was developed to help retailers to work more efficiently, giving them 360’ view of the parcels in their network. The system can help reduce the cost and frustrations of managing a number of carrier partners who they might outsource to. wnControlTower is unique as it brings together valuable data and presents it in a way which is easy to understand and also supports a pro-active response. One of its functions is the integration of customer communications. Customers will automatically receive two emails through wnControlTower. One which informs them when the parcel is dispatched and another when it has arrived in-country. These emails can be retailer branded and in the local language. It also enables retailers to reach out to customers if there is any sort of delay reducing the ‘where is my order’ queries. By freeing up this valuable resource retailers can deploy the effort elsewhere.”

In recognition of the benefits it will bring to retailers (and the buzz it will create) wnDirect plans to use the revenue generated from the use of wnControlTower to further develop the tool.

Continuing Sarah said: “We hope to encourage retailer feedback so that wnControlTower can continue to be improved based on retailers’ wants and needs. Our retailer partners who have already trialled wnControlTower are very excited about what it can do for their business.”
