When most of us think of slavery, we automatically think back to the history books we studied at school. However, slavery is not an issue confined to history, modern slavery is very much a current issue in today’s society and is closer than you think. It can be happening anywhere, even on the street where you live.

The term ‘modern slavery’ captures a whole range of types of exploitation, many of which occur together. These include but are not limited to sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, forced labour, and criminal exploitation. It is a global problem affecting an estimated 29.8 million people around the world.

Our government is determined to end modern slavery by raising awareness of the issue. There is a responsibility on all of us to be looking out for potential victims of this crime and we urge you to take 10 minutes of your time to view the Modern Slavery film which includes information on how to spot potential victims, how they may be exploited and what you can do to help free the UK from Modern Slavery.

Here at wnDirect we find the crime of Modern Slavery abhorrent, and we are striving to combat it within the supply chains we impact and to eliminate the possibility of any aspect of modern slavery occurring within our business model.
